Born into a clan of film personalities, she seemed to be at a certain point to be in the spotlight since her childhood. Her mother Goldie Hawn is a renowned film actor, and her father Bill Hudson is a comedian. She was a performer from beginning at a young age. Her parents ensured she received dancing lessons and did her training at the Santa Monica Playhouse when she was a kid. Her first acting experience came in 1996 after she received a role in the TV drama Party of Five. Although she was accepted to New York University, Kate Hudson was more interested pursuing a career as an entrepreneur in showbiz rather than having a degree. After acting in minor films her audition was for the part that would later become a major in her career. The role she was cast in was Penny Lane in the comedy drama film Almost Famous. Although it was a box office failure it received positive reviews from critics and made a name for Kate as an actor within the American film industry.
