Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and a businesswoman. She's co-founder and director of Thrive Global, as well as the writer of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is a philanthropist, author television host, and proprietor of the online, independent newspaper The Huffington Post. Her birthplace was in Greece and moved to England at age 16. Then, at Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA in economics. In the beginning, as the only non-English student to graduate, she was voted to the presidency of The Cambridge Union' at the age of 21. Following after her college graduation, she became an important conservative syndicated journalist. After a few years later, she founded The Huffington Post which featured criticism of the present political climate. Her popularity has led to the attraction of many well-known contributors who shared their opinions on news, politics as well as culture. Arianna became famous in 2003 when she decided to contest as an independent presidential candidate during the California recall election to replace then Governor Davis. In addition, she managed a Detroit project to promote the use of fuel-efficient cars. Forbes identified her as being the 12th most influential women in the media industry in 2009 and Guardian added her to the Top 100 Media List during the same year. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and she was named president of the media company. It included a variety of AOL properties of that time, including Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and manager Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. Though she shared a kinship relation to her father and mother the bond between them which shaped her. As early as her childhood she showed the leadership abilities for which she has gained a reputation. The British native moved to England when she was 16, to pursue her education and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. When she was in the college years, she joined the debating society Cambridge Union where she became the third foreign, and first female president. She graduated in 1972 with an MA in Economics. The years that followed her graduation, she was a TV host and columnist. Also, she appeared on an edition of Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books taking editorial help from Bernard Levin.
